The Gap Life

Is this you?

You've spent a life in service to others and others' dreams. To the farm, the family, the business, the community. Not unwillingly. You chose it, you showed up fully, you gave everything you had.

But somewhere along the way you got smaller. Not broken. Not lost. Just smaller than you were. Dimmer than you used to be. Dragged down by the weight of everything and everyone you've been holding together.

  • You're stubborn and defiant. That part hasn't gone anywhere. But the defiance has nowhere to go yet, because you don't know what you want. You know what you don't want. You just haven't dared to dream yet.
  • You're waiting for the right time. You're waiting for someone to give you permission.
  • You don't shine outside anymore, unless you're at work, or in a crisis, or someone needs you. You're the one who holds it together when things go wrong. Then you come alive. But for yourself? Not yet.
  • You know you're worth more. You're just not quite sure how to get there.

If you recognise yourself in any of that, you're already closer than you think.

What 'The Gap Life' Is

The Gap Life is for rural women who have reached a crossroads. Through death, divorce, an empty nest, a farm or business that’s’ changing hands, a career that no longer fits, or simply the quiet realisation that the life you're living has become someone else's script.

It is not therapy. It is not a wellness retreat. It is practical, action-oriented, slightly stubborn work for women who are ready to stop performing the life they were handed and start building one that is genuinely theirs. Drawing on your own strength in a way that energises rather than depletes you.

I know this territory because I've lived it. After losing my husband and my father within 18 months of each other, I rebuilt my life one rock at a time, on my own 85 acres, in my own way. Not by talking about my feelings in a circle, but by doing. Making. Moving. Slowly working out who I was now and what I wanted next.

The Gap Life is how I help other women do the same.

How It Works

The Gap Life isn't a tidy five-step program that takes you from lost to found in six weeks. Real life doesn't work like that. It's a set of movements you return to as you need them.

  • Ground

Get back into your body and your physical world. Make something with your hands. Anchor yourself in what's real before you try to figure anything out.

  • Borrow

You can't generate strength from empty. Borrow it. From other women's stories, from people who've been there, from tools and ideas that help you think and plan and act.

  • Make

Create things, even in the hard times. Especially in the hard times. Making is how some of us process what can't be said.

  • Design

When there's enough ground under your feet to look up, imagine what comes next. Not one path. Several. Including the wild card you've never let yourself consider.

  • Act

Take one small brave step. Then another. Confidence comes from the doing, not before it.

Ways to Work With Me

  • One to one coaching

Regular sessions, just you and me, working through where you are and where you want to go.

  • Small group program

A small group of women doing brave things together over several months. Real conversations, practical action, genuine support.

  • Retreat

Time away from the noise to ground, reflect and plan what comes next. In nature, with good women, doing the work.

The Manifesto

I want people to see me. To see my potential and call me out on it.

To tell me to step up. Be brave. Do the hard things. Take the hard road to make life easier.

To ignore the inner critic, because she's annoying, not right.

To live life, because it is not a dress rehearsal. We don't get a second chance. Loved ones die before we are ready. Dreams fade before we are ready.

We must take back control of ourselves.

We must let the others in our life rage when we are no longer what they need us to be. Not because we don't love them, but because we love ourselves first and foremost, and we need to do what is right for us before we can be of service to others.

If any of this sounds like where you are, where you've been, or where someone you love is right now, I'd love to hear from you.
